Some doctors in private practice are in charge of managing their clinics but their services are publically financed. They can either practice individually (solo practice) or in a collaborative, group setting (group practice). The former is more common for general practitioners; the latter is more common amongst different specialists who work together to share operating costs (such as rent, services, administrative costs, and so on). Private clinics are set up as for-profit entities and doctors are able to set their own fees and manage their businesses. Public Health Centers are operated by governments, often at the municipal level. They hire general practitioners, nurses, midwives, and other support staff to provide basic health services (source: OECD).
